How To: E-Filing Form 4868
|If you need more time to file your Individual Income Tax Return, you can easily e-file an extension and receive an additional 6 months to prepare. ExpressExtension provides IRS Form 4868 which is used to extend the time you have to file.

Officially titled “Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return,” the Form 4868 is used to apply for and additional 6 months to file Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040NR-EZ, 1040-PR or 1040-SS. To file a personal extension, you do not need to explain why you are asking for the extension, but you are required to properly estimate your 2013 tax liability and file Form 4868 by April 15.
Please note that you are still required to pay any tax due by the due date; the Form 4868 does not extend the time to pay.
