Form 4868: Application of Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return
- Form 4868 can be filed by individual taxpayers who have the option to file Form 4868, granting them a 6-month extension for filing their personal income tax returns. This personal tax extension applies to commonly used forms, such as Form 1040 and 1040-NR (Non-resident).
Form 8809: Application of Automatic Extension of Time to File Information Returns
- Businesses are obligated to submit various information returns to the IRS, reporting payments made during business operations, employee compensation, Affordable Care Act forms, and other relevant details. To request a 30-day extension, businesses can use Form 8809 with the IRS. Commonly extended forms using this process include Form 1099, ACA Form 1095, and more.
Please note that we also support the e-filing of Form 8868, the form filed by tax-exempt organizations to extend their 990 deadline. However, currently, the IRS has temporarily suspended the e-filing of Form 8868 due to maintenance.
The IRS anticipates reopening the e-file system in mid-March, at which point the e-filing of Form 8868 will resume. Once this resumes, you can easily e-file Form 8868 with ExpressExtension.
