Independence Day 2016

Summer has taken off in a huge way and the most celebrated holiday of the season is just a few days away. So fire up those grills, get the pool and drinks ready, and don’t forget to have some sunscreen nearby because it’s the Fourth of July holiday weekend!
And while we all have our unique plans to celebrate this much anticipated day of the year, let’s also be mindful of those extended tax deadlines that are approaching if you filed a tax extension earlier this year. Here’s a quick recap of those due dates:

The Fourth of July commemorates our nation’s signing of the Declaration of Independence in which we succeeded from British rule. And for our current American troops, who still protect and maintain our freedoms, check out our blogs about some significant tax benefits specifically for military men and women:

  • Combat-Zone Extension – If you’re serving in a combat zone or a contingency operation, then you receive an automatic tax extension. This extension is for 180 days, roughly six months, which extends your deadline to file your return as well as paying any taxes you may owe and filing claims for a refund.
  • Military Personnel Extension – During tax season, if you’re in the military and are located abroad or in a combat zone, you may qualify for certain automatic extensions that relate to the filing and paying of your federal taxes. For those in the military or a combat zone, the IRS has resources in place to help you make accurate and informed decisions regarding your taxes.

In honor of the Fourth of July, our office will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2016; however, we will still have limited email support available with [email protected]. On the following business day, our office will resume regular hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST – you can call us at (803) 514-5155 for any questions about the e-filing process.

Be safe and enjoy the Fourth of July weekend!!!
